We are seeking a dependable and experienced Pipe Layer to join our trenchless utility contracting team. This position involves the installation of underground utilities such as water, sewer, and storm drainage systems, often working in support of trenchless operations like horizontal directional drilling (HDD), pipe bursting, and auger boring. The ideal candidate has experience in both traditional open-cut utility installation and working alongside trenchless crews.

Note: This role may require travel to various job sites. When travel is necessary, the company provides lodging and daily per diem.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, align, and connect underground utility pipes (PVC, HDPE, ductile iron, concrete, etc.).
• Prepare and support trenchless operations by constructing launch/exit pits and making tie-ins to existing utilities.
• Set pipe to proper grade using lasers, transits, and levels.
• Excavate and backfill trenches or pits while adhering to OSHA trench safety standards.
• Install related structures such as manholes, catch basins, and valve boxes.
• Collaborate with operators, laborers, and trenchless crews to ensure accurate and safe installations.
• Read and interpret utility maps, blueprints, and field drawings.
• Maintain worksite safety and cleanliness; report hazards or issues promptly.
• Perform daily maintenance of tools and report equipment needs.

Required:

• 3+ years of experience in underground utility pipe installation.
• Familiarity with trenchless utility methods and working around live utilities.
• Proficient in reading construction drawings and using layout tools.
• Understanding of pipe laser setup, trench safety, and OSHA standards.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Willingness and ability to travel when required.

Preferred:

• OSHA 10 or 30 certification.
• Confined space entry and trench safety training.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift 75 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather and site conditions.
• Able to work in and around excavations, confined spaces, and heavy equipment
